Once again, Samsung has made major waves in the smartphone arena, but not for its flagship S25 series as usual. In fact, its midrange Galaxy A lineup has been the talk of the town, due to an accidental leak on its official Chilean website. Just a few days after the Galaxy S25 unveiling, Samsung’s attention has been diverted towards the more budget-friendly A56, A36, and A26 models – gadgets that are going to stir the midrange market.

Accidental Confirmation: What Happened on Samsung’s Website

The excitement started when the Samsung Chile website showed a repair page for out-of-warranty devices with pictures and details of the unreleased Galaxy A56, A36, and A26. By this error, not only were the official model numbers namely SM-A566 for the A56, SM-A366 for the A36, and SM-A266 for the A26 revealed but also their retail names were confirmed. Though the repair pricing for these new models was not available, their listing on the site was a strong indication that their release would take place.

Specs and Features: Galaxy A56, A36, and A26 Breakdown

We can know details about the new gadgets only if we go through with it. All the three devices contain a battery of 5000 mAH which can keep the phone running for 29 hours in the video playback mode. The A36 and A56 have been equipped with 45W fast wired charging to make their users comfortable and easy to charge their devices fully.

Another aspect of the device where Samsung shows off is the display. The A36 and A56 are at the service of users with a 6.7-inch AMOLED panel offering a 120Hz refresh rate and Gorilla Victus+ Glass protection, thus, giving them a better and more resistant experience than many other. Despite being a bit smaller at 6.5 inches, the A26 can also be proud of having a 120Hz FHD+ screen.

Moreover, the A26 is powered by Samsung’s Exynos 1380 chipset along with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The A36 uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Gen 3 processor, also combined with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The A56, as the trio’s powerhouse, carries the Exynos 1580 chip with a choice of 8GB or 12GB RAM, and 128GB or 256GB storage.

The camera configurations are excellent in every phone. A 50MP wide-angle lens is what each phone has, but the A56 and A36 also add ultra-wide and macro lenses for more camera functionality. In a word, the A56 has a 12MP ultra-wide and a 5MP macro, and the A36 provides an 8MP ultra-wide and a 5MP macro. Some AI-operated features such as Best Take and Object Eraser allow the photo quality to be raised, hence, these sets are quite attractive to mobile photographers.

    Design Language and Build Quality

Samsung new A series models have a common design language which is composed of a floating rear camera bump and a unique Key Island button design i.e. the raised frame or area around the power and volume buttons. A plastic frame and body were chosen for the A26, whereas the A36 and A56 materials are more luxurious. All of them have thin bezels, however, the bottom chin is a bit more prominent.

Leaked renderings indicate color possibilities with the A56 like pink, gray, and green, and the A36 may be colored in green, gray, and purple. The A26 is going to be released in black.

    Software and AI Features

The new Galaxy A series on One UI 7.0 brings in features like the Now Bar and a newly designed interface that is very similar to iOS. Full Galaxy AI suite, however, only available for flagship devices, the A series is not left behind from Google’s Circle-to-Search, Filters, Best Face, Auto Trim, and Samsung’s AI Object Eraser. Samsung calls this bundle “Awesome Intelligence.” Besides that, the company is also pledging six OS generations and six years of security updates thus, competing with Google’s Pixel devices.

How the Galaxy A Series Compares to the iPhone 16e

The launch of Samsung’s A series has been strategically timed to come right after Apple iPhone 16e. The iPhone 16e costs $599 for 128GB and is equipped with Apple’s A18 chip, 8GB RAM, and a 48MP single camera. However, it does not have some modern features such as 120Hz display, always-on screen, and MagSafe.

On the other hand, the Galaxy A56 priced $500 comes with a double storage and a 120Hz AMOLED display. The A36, priced at $400, is a great solution choice to the value seekers. On pure benchmark scores, the iPhone 16e’s A18 chip is stronger than the Exynos 1580, but Samsung’s devices are endowed with more versatile camera setups and quicker charging.

    Pricing and Availability

The starting price of the Galaxy A26 is $300, $400 for the A36, and $500 for the A56. The A36 5G is in Black and Lavender with an exclusive Lime color available at Best Buy. The A26 will be sold in Black, and the A56 is going to be US-delayed, and the colors are yet to be revealed.

    Competitive Landscape: Other Midrange Rivals

Samsung is not the only one to strive for the midrange crown. The Pixel 9a and Nothing Phone (3a) are also contenders, offering great specs and attractive pricing. The Galaxy A36 and A56 would be the best choices for Android lovers, while the iPhone 16e would be the best pick for the people who are already in the Apple ecosystem.

The latest Galaxy A series from Samsung is a potential game-changer to the expectations of what a midrange smartphone user should get, with a perfect combination of premium features, strong software support, and attractive pricing, which is difficult to ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌overlook.
